Liam Neeson expressed interest in reprising his role as Qui-Gon Jinn. However, he later stated he would only do it for a movie and not a live-action TV series. In the final part, he appears as a Force ghost. This marks his second live appearance as Qui-Gon Jinn; he previously appeared in Star Wars: Episodio I - La minaccia fantasma (1999). He also voiced the character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) and made a reprisal vocal cameo in Star Wars - L'ascesa di Skywalker (2019). He agreed to reprise the role out of respect for George Lucas but also because he did not want his role recast and he enjoyed working with Ewan McGregor during Episode I.
