After defeating Max Baer for the heavyweight championship, Jimmy Braddock, ("James J."), fought only two more fights before retiring. He waited two years before defending his title against Joe Louis, losing on an 8th round KO. Six months after that, in Jan. 1938, he won a 10-round unanimous decision against Tommy Farr, after which he decided to hang up his gloves at age 32.
