Although not confirmed to be an entire reboot or sequel to the previous adaption of The Suicide Squad, there are brief moments that come close to acknowledging the events of Suicide Squad (2016). For instance, Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang acknowledge each other's presence on the plane ride to the beach assault. Also, Harley recognizes Rick Flag as one of her greatest friends. These moments might show that Harley knows Rick Flag and Captain Boomerang from their previous mission in Suicide Squad (2016). Additionally, earlier in the film, Amanda Waller states, "You know the deal. Successfully complete the mission. You got ten years off your sentence." Her line could prove that isn't Waller's first time organizing a dangerous mission with a squad of villains, hence the previous adaptation of the group.
