At the beginning of the movie, Lightning's paintwork is slightly different than his signature look. Specifically his red paint is a bit desaturated and darker than his original red, and the Rust-eze logo has a more high-tech font. Also, he lacks the small 95 on his cheek like all the other racers, which is seen on his signature look later into the film. This foreshadows the arrival of the next-gens, and his eventual crash.
