There actually is a script for "The Price Is Right", but it's not like a movie or soap opera script. The process for making a script comes following the planning phase when a production coordinator goes in and types the entire week's shows onto a form that becomes the foundation on which everyone builds their subsequent work. This document makes a long journey through many people's hands as the day progresses. The script coordinator will assemble information about all the small grocery items and prizes and incorporate them into script form. The script is about thirty pages long and has all of the prize copy in it that is to be read by the announcer with details on the opening and closing of the show, including the big wheel, close captioning plugs, showcases, and anything else that needs to be announcer. The host and the contestants are never scripted.
