Sylvester McCoy (Radagast the Brown) was previously considered for the role of Bilbo Baggins in Il Signore degli Anelli - La compagnia dell'Anello (2001). McCoy was suggested to play Radagast when Guillermo del Toro was still set to direct. When Sir Peter Jackson took over, he changed many of del Toro's casting decisions, but kept McCoy. Neither Radagast nor his rabbit-pulled sled is in the Hobbit novel, but Jackson based the latter idea on Radagast's close friendship and ability to speak with wild animals, as described in 'The Fellowship of the Ring' novel.
