On May 19, 2020, two days after the Season 1 finale, Ruby Rose announced that she was leaving the series. The reason of her leaving was the long hours and difficulty of the work. The CW announced that same day that they would recast a new actress of the LGBTQ community in the role of Batwoman, but not as Kate Kane.
