When Sam is explaining the Ghostface killings to Richie during their drive to Woodsboro, Sam says to him that every decade or so some "idiot" gets the bright idea to put on the Ghostface mask, "kill his friends, and get famous too" and that the last such occurrence was in 2011. Although not mentioned by name, it is implied that the "idiot" Sam refers to is Jill Roberts, whose motive for being the killer in Scream 4 (2011) was to become famous. Seeing as Sam is younger than Jill by a few years, this would mean that Sam was a freshman in high school when the events of Scream 4 (2011) occurred. Thus, it is possible that Sam could have crossed paths with not only Jill, but her accomplice Charlie Walker, survivor Kirby Reed and the other deceased teenagers from Scream 4 (2011) as well.
