Contrary to some, in the theme song, the mention of autotrophs starting to drool isn't a joke or a mistake. The lyrics of the song chart a progression from the Big Bang through to present day. It doesn't mean that ALL autotrophs drooled, it's just a way of saying that the evolutionary process began from a single cell species.
