Judy Hicks is officially the first victim in the film franchise to be murdered by Ghostface outside and in broad daylight, as she dies in front of her house while trying to save her son, who is killed shortly after. Although Randy Meeks was also killed outside during the day in Scream 2 (1997), he died inside a van. Every other outside deaths in the franchise took place at night.
