Tim Roth was a leading contender for the role of Professor Severus Snape. He was initially going to play Snape as well as General Thade in Tim Burton's adaptation of Planet of the Apes - Il pianeta delle scimmie (2001), alternately working on both movies. However, he later decided to fully pursue Planet of the Apes because he felt that the constant flying back and forth would be too overwhelming.
