Like the other two Ridley Scott Alien films (Alien and Prometheus), this movie involves characters being rudely awakened from cryo-sleep. However, in Prometheus (2012) and Alien (1979), the cryo-sleep tubes onboard the Prometheus and Nostromo appear to work different than the ones onboard the Covenant. Onboard the Prometheus, the cryo-sleep tubes appear to be full of liquid and the characters have to wear nothing but their undergarments. It is the same onboard the Nostromo, but the cryo-sleep tubes appear to be full of gas instead of liquid. Onboard the Covenant, the cryo-pods fill with gas, much like the Nostromo's, but the crew-members have to wear mostly full-body thermal undergarments.
