The music that plays when Annie and Hallie do the "secret handshake" with Martin is "Soulful Strut" (1968) by Young-Holt Unlimited. The original is an instrumental, but a version with lyrics, "Am I The Same Girl," has been recorded several times, including hit versions by Dusty Springfield and Swing Out Sister. They lyrics include, "Why don't you stop and look me over...Am I the same girl you used to know?"
