The table saw with which Burt Johnson (Nick Nolte) threatens Arthur (Russell Brand) is a real saw. This is a SawStop saw which is designed to instantly apply a break and stop the saw blade within milliseconds of coming into contact with any kind of flesh. However, it works by applying a small electrical current to the blade, which flesh absorbs, disrupting the electrical current, and not so much by the detection of moisture as suggested in the movie.
