The real Delores Fuller said in a 1996 interview that she was upset no one contacted her before or during production. She said, Sarah Jessica Parker "could have done a better performance if she'd gotten in touch, a lot deeper." At the premiere, she said she tracked down the writers and asked them if they knew she was still alive. When they said yes, she asked why the hell didn't they contact her. They said they were afraid to because Tim Burton had approved the script the way it was and they didn't want to rock the boat by changing it.
