The fight in the temple has Sonic and Knuckles attacking each other with what seems to be this universe's incarnation of the Boost, similar to the Sonic vs. Blaze fight in the game that introduced the mechanic, Sonic Rush (2005). The pair also ram into each other at high speeds, creating a pose similar to the one from the fight against Hyper Metal Sonic in Sonikku za hejjihoggu (1996) and the fight against Blaze in Sonic Rush.
