The name of the First Order's weapon is "Starkiller". This was Luke Skywalker's original last name when George Lucas wrote the Star Wars story. The name was used as a code name by the character Galen Marek, who was Darth Vader's secret apprentice in the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (2008). It's Starkiller's actions in the game that leads to the creation of the Rebel Alliance.
