The series frequently quotes Aaron Sorkin's Codice d'onore (1992), who also wrote and created West Wing - Tutti gli uomini del Presidente (1999). Harvey's secretary Donna is a tribute to the West Wing's Donna Moss. Although the characters don't share every aspect, they have the same relationship with their boss. Both shows also starred Dulé Hill.
