Treebeard refers to the wizard as "young master Gandalf," which indicates that he is far older than Gandalf. In the previous film, Gandalf says that he has been alive for "three hundred lifetimes." Depending on how you count this - as generations or as cumulative lifetimes (of, say, forty years) - Gandalf is between 6,000 and 12,000 years old. This makes Treebeard very old, indeed.
