In the book, getting the hang of a jacket is hard; it likens it to walking across eggshells without breaking any. It takes up to two minutes to put on a jacket. The jackets read minute muscular electric signals, and each one is custom made. Wearing the wrong suit could break all the bones in your body, or leave you inert. Before putting one on, you have to go through 37 pre-suit-up checks, or eleven if you're in a hurry.
