The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Don Rickles had not recorded his dialogue for the character Mr. Potato Head for Toy Story 4 (2019) before he tragically passed away on April 6, 2017 due to kidney failure. When the first teaser was shown on November 12, 2018, it was confirmed that Mr. Potato Head would indeed still be appearing in the film and was able to do so through the use of archived audio recordings made throughout the franchise's entire history.
