The film provides the first live-action version of Nora Fries, Mr. Freeze's wife. Nora first appeared in a 1992 episode of "Batman: The Animated Series", created by writer Paul Dini and artist Bruce Timm. She was introduced into the Batman comics in Batman: Mr. Freeze (May 1997). In 2006, Nora became a super-villainess in her own right as "Lazara" (a female Lazarus), acquiring the powers to conjure flame and to reanimate the dead. In 2019, she was revised into the super-villainess Mrs. Freeze. She gained a copy of her husband's powers and acquired part of his weaponry.
