David Jacobs, who wasn't involved in the only Lorimar serial, said before auditioning for Chase Gioberti, Robert Foxworth turned down the role of J. R. Ewing on Dallas (1978) because he did not want to play such an unsympathetic character. The role ultimately went to Larry Hagman.
