Captain Andrew Allison "Ack Ack" Haldane (Scott Gibson) was affectionately referred to as "Old Man" by his marines, when in fact he had only recently graduated from college before entering the war. He received a Silver Star during the Battle of Cape Gloucester and was killed on Peleliu just days before he and his men were to be relieved; he was 27 years old.
