Hollywood makeup veteran, Daniel C. Striepeke, who had been Tom Hanks' personal makeup artist on 16 of his films over 20 years, starting with La retata (1987) right through Il codice da Vinci (2006), had also been Elvis Presley's makeup artist on Lo sceriffo scalzo (1962). According to Hanks' account on Stephen Colbert's Late Show (June 16, 2022), Striepeke also created Elvis' 'tan' for his films Viva Las Vegas (1964) and Avventura in oriente (1965). Striepeke was Oscar-nominated for his work on Forrest Gump (1994) and Salvate il soldato Ryan (1998).
