Betty Garrett played recurring characters Irene Lorenzo on All in the Family and Edna Babbish on Laverne and Shirley, but contrary to popular belief, not concurrently. She left All in the Family in the middle of the '75-'76 television season, then debuted on Laverne and Shirley in October 1976.
