This film features references to every Star Trek series before and after Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). Commander Riker orders the defensive maneuver Kirk Epsilon, after Captain Kirk. One of the ships waiting for the Enterprise is the U.S.S. Archer, named after Captain Archer. Admiral Janeway makes a cameo giving Captain Picard his orders to Romulus. Worf returns from Deep Space Nine: in a deleted scene, he claims he was not cut out for Ambassador life, referencing the ending of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), when he was promoted to Ambassador with Chancellor Martok.
