Greg (Thomas Mann) often breaks the fourth wall throughout the film, talking directly to the spectator, and at one point tells the spectator not to worry and that Rachel (Olivia Cooke) doesn't die and will make it to the end of the film. After Rachel's death, Greg apologies to the spectator by stating "I didn't think she would. But she did." Therefore meaning that the spectator can experience the same emotions as he does.
