Contrary to popular opinion, Harrison Ford stated in an Entertainment Weekly November 2015 interview that he was happy that George Lucas didn't listen to his request to be martyred in Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983). He was very glad to be back on set of a new Star Wars film. Interestingly, in the making of segments of this movie, Ford is careful in admitting that Han Solo's death moves the story forward, but does not confirm or deny making cameo appearances in the future films. Possibly a ghost brought back by Luke Skywalker. Indeed, Ford made a cameo in Star Wars - L'ascesa di Skywalker (2019) as an ambiguous dream, hallucination, or conscience.
