Colin Trevorrow had to convince Steven Spielberg to rename the Jurassic Park franchise to Jurassic World when he was hired to oversee the 2015 blockbuster. Trevorrow, who oversaw the monstrously successful Jurassic World back in 2015, admitted as much during Collider's Directors On Directing discussion for Comic-Con@Home. "Changing the name of the franchise took some convincing. It was called Jurassic Park and, if you can imagine, at the time they were pretty married to that. So me going in and writing a very carefully worded e-mail to Steven [Spielberg] if I could change the name of his franchise. It wasn't a fight but it took a weekend to figure that one out.
