First James Bond movie since Mai dire mai (1983) to feature Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who in the earlier movie was played by Max von Sydow. Blofeld's alter ego's name is Franz Oberhauser, whose last name was derived from a character in Ian Fleming's "Octopussy" (1966) short story, Hannes Oberhauser (his father). Octopussy - Operazione piovra (1983) was released in the same year as Mai dire mai (1983).
