The master VTR of the unaired The Black Adder: Original Pilot (2003) suffered physical damage back in the 1980s and is now classed by the BBC as "unrepairable" and no longer of broadcast quality (although it has been included on DVD releases as an extra, despite the sometimes poor picture quality). Although significant changes were made to the format and cast after the the pilot was made, many of the gags and some of the pilot script was reworked back into the resultant series.
