The book sequel, "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator", has never been made into a movie. Roald Dahl denied the rights after his profound disappointment with Willy Wonka e la fabbrica di cioccolato (1971). Tim Burton has also expressed no interest in adapting the sequel.
