The film's potentially romantic pair: Olivia Hussey and Jon Finch, had each starred on film as half of a famed Shakespearean couple, Hussey in Romeo e Giulietta (1968) and Finch in Macbeth (1971). Finch's Lady Macbeth: Francesca Annis, would play Agatha Christie's crime-solving flapper Tuppence Beresford in the TV series In due s'indaga meglio (1983).
