Mary Wickes (Aunt Zelda) had committed herself to a play which was scheduled to begin after the second season wrapped, but a fire destroyed the "Sigmund" set and delayed production. Aunt Zelda was temporarily written out, but Wickes juggled her schedule to shoot a few scenes which explained her disappearance and showed her return.
