Frozen adds another Disney adaptation of the works of Hans Christian Andersen, a famed and influential Danish fairy tale poet and author of "The Red Shoes", "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Little Match Girl", "The Little Mermaid", and "The Snow Queen"; the last of which this movie is based on. Previous adaptations of Andersen's fairy tales into animated short or feature-length films: La sirenetta (1989), La piccola fiammiferaia (2006), "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" segment in Fantasia 2000 (1999), the "Ugly Duckling" plot element in Lilo & Stitch (2002), and the title of Le follie dell'imperatore (2000) is derived from that of "The Emperor's New Clothes."
