To distract himself, Brian DePalma was developing a story idea for a future project to take his mind off the stress going on all around him on this film. That idea would eventually become "Raising Cain" which he wrote in 1991 and Universal Pictures would release in 1992 and was produced by his future wife, Gale Anne Hurd.
