Alfred Pennyworth works, as usual, as the Wayne Family butler and assists Bruce Wayne in his vigilante adventures as basically his mechanic and gadget creator (much like the character of Q in the James Bond film franchise). However, during the scene where Alfred reveals that Bruce has been invited to Lex Luthor's house to attend a gala, Bruce indicates earlier that he needs the suit, almost as if he is asking permission to use the Batman suit.
