Producer Douglas Wick says there were two outlooks on this movie: Director Mike Nichols saw this as a movie about loss and death, whereas Jack Nicholson, Screenwriter and Associate Producer Jim Harrison, and Wick saw it as a celebration of oblivion and liberation.
