Portraying detective Edward X. Delaney in this picture, star Frank Sinatra had previously played a famous private investigator detective character called Tony Rome in two earlier movies, they being L'investigatore (1967) and La signora nel cemento (1968). Sinatra had also previously portrayed police detective Joe Leland in Inchiesta pericolosa (1968).
