Universal, the studio behind this version, had held the UK video rights to the 1933 version, along with other RKO films, since 1999. They also hold distribution rights on home video in many international countries to the 1976 version, by arrangement with former sister studio StudioCanal, who has owned the international rights to the 1976 version since the mid-1990s.
