During the scene where the Kryptonian ship shows Victor an ominous vision of the potential 'bad' future, one of the various scenes shown with Darkseid shows him killing Arthur and attending Diana's funeral pyre. It's possible that the vision focuses on them because they are the ones who later deliver the deathblows to Steppenwolf by Arthur first running him through with his mother's trident and then Diana decapitating him as they throw him back to Apokalips.
