In San Diego, the TriStar film unit became the very first picture granted permission to photograph the exterior of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla. This is a world class complex considered the seminal work of the great architect-philosopher Louis I. Kahn. In this movie, the building served as the Mar Vista State Hospital where the lives of Mr. Jones (Richard Gere) and Libbie (Lena Olin) crash head on.
