When Charles and Mystique are in CIA headquarters, two figures are on the screen. One is a replica of Rosalind Franklin's x-ray crystallography analysis of DNA, which proved its double helical shape (and for which James Watson and Francis Crick won the Nobel prize). The other seems to be the actual diagram for double helical DNA that was published in Watson and Crick's 1953 paper. Wooden lamps in Charles' mansion show a similar shape when Charles and Erik are playing chess.
