Many viewers were angry about Don Murray's departure from the show. Consequently, a massive stage letter to CBS, begging them not to kill him off. Most just didn't understand that it was Murray's decision to leave, when and unfortunately, it was his call for him to exit the show, despite seeing somewhere viewers/producers and writers had rejected him, when they all loved him.
