Yash Chopra went to see a play by Anupam Kher and was blown away by his talent. After the show he invited Anupam to his house. When Anupam arrived at Yash's house , Yash told him he was super talented and wanted to sign him for a small role in Mashaal. Anupam was excited as he was broke and needed money. But Yash stated he changed his mind and did not want to waste him in a small role. He was meant for bigger things in life. Anupam told Yash he would be happy with any role in the film. But Yash kept saying he did not want to waste him in a small role.
