Dana Carvey portrayed former President George H.W. Bush during his tenure on Saturday Night Live (1975). In this film, he plays then-current President George W. Bush at the end of the film. After seeing Will Ferrell do his George W. Bush impression on SNL, Carvey wanted to do it in this movie, the studio fully welcomed the idea. The entire scene in Costa Rica was added at the last minute for the impression.
