In this film, Mr. Freeze claims that the ice age killed the dinosaurs. All non-avian dinosaurs are thought to have perished in the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event (around 66 million years ago) due to the effects of a lingering impact winter which halted photosynthesis in plants and plankton. The winter is thought to have been caused by the impact of a massive comet or asteroid that fell on Earth.
