Valentin Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane) saves James Bond's (Pierce Brosnan's) life with a bullet from his modified walking cane. In GoldenEye (1995), it was revealed that Zukovsky walked with a cane because 007 shot him in the leg during the Cold War. This means that if Bond hadn't shot him, Zukovsky would never have been able to save him.
