The marquee showing "The Star Trek Experience" in Las Vegas is anachronistic, as the show would not premiere for another year past when it is depicted in the film, but was included as a nod to the real Elvis being a huge fan of the original Star Trek series. Tom Hanks is also a noted Star Trek fan and was nearly cast as Zefram Cochrane in Primo contatto (1996).
